First Friday Art Walk – October 2021

Born in Germany, Irma Wager was taught in grade school to embroider pillow cases, knit wool socks and many other things. She immigrated to the United States as a teenager and has had a love of yarn and knitted, embroidered and counted cross stitch for many years.

The art of counted cross stitch has stuck with her over the last 15 years, finishing projects which take anywhere from 1-4 months. The more challenging her projects, the more she enjoys the process and the outcome.

Irma has made many images for family and friends in different varieties from European landscapes to animals, flowers, city streets and beautiful women. A friend encouraged her to share her work after losing her husband, and Irma was amazed that people thought they were paintings.
