First Friday Art Walk – September 2025
Step into a world of color, texture, and imagination with the photography of Mark Clarke. His work blends a love of nature, travel, and abstract art, inviting viewers to see the world in new and unexpected ways.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in central Kansas, Mark found his love for photography at an early age. Life took him in other directions through military service and a long career, but the spark of creativity never left him. In 2019, he picked up a digital camera for the first time, decades after setting down his cherished Nikon film camera. What began as a return soon became a renewal, leading his work to be featured in galleries, regional art centers, the Symphony in the Flint Hills Art Exhibit, and in several literary journals and magazines.
Influenced by his travels, his love of impressionist and abstract art, and his deep love of nature, Mark creates photographs that tell a story and stir emotion. His newest work with encaustic photography adds a rich, layered texture that makes each piece unique. He especially values making a connection with the natural world and strives to communicate its beauty through his photographs.
